After months of praying, planning, researching, and revisiting countless ideas, our Grade 2 Homeschool Curriculum Plan is finally complete, and I'm so excited to share it with you!
If you've been following our homeschool journey, you know that I don't use a boxed curriculum. Instead, I carefully choose books and resources that align with our family's goals, combining the beauty of Charlotte Mason's philosophy with practical tools that truly work for our home.
The question that guided every decision
As I planned this year, I kept coming back to one question:
Will these books help shape not only my daughter's mind, but also her heart?
That one question guided every decision.
I didn't want a curriculum that simply checks off subjects or rushes through lessons. I wanted one that feels like a feast, simple in structure, yet rich in living books, meaningful conversations, beautiful ideas, good habits, and opportunities to wonder.
Why we chose year-round homeschooling
One of the biggest changes we've made as a family is embracing year-round homeschooling, and it has been one of the best decisions we've ever made. It gives us the freedom to slow down, build habits gently, follow our child's interests, and enjoy learning without the constant pressure of racing to finish.
Because I've learned that education isn't a race. It's a lifelong journey.
What our Grade 2 year will hold
This year, our days will be filled with literature, Bible reading and copywork, nature study, narration, memory work, mathematics, history, geography, art, music appreciation, life skills, and plenty of time outdoors. My hope is that these subjects will not feel like isolated lessons, but will weave together into a beautiful and meaningful education.
Above all, my prayer is that Grade 2 will be a year of joyful learning, steady growth, and countless opportunities to discover God's goodness in everyday life. I hope our homeschool continues to be a place where wisdom is cultivated, character is formed, curiosity is encouraged, and memories are made together.
If you're planning your own homeschool year, I hope this curriculum encourages you as much as it has encouraged me while preparing it.
